WED MAY 01 2024-theGBJournal| Civil servants in Cross River State will now earn N40,000 minimum wage. The State Governor, Bassey Otu revealed the new wage to the workers during the ceremony to commemorate the 2024 May Day at the U. J Esuene Stadium, Calabar, the state capital.

Speaking during the ceremony themed: ”The People First”, the governor reiterated his commitment towards prioritizing the welfare of the people, assured continued prompt payment of workers salaries and pensions.

Governor Otu assured also to continue to improve the work environment, and provide employment opportunities in the state civil service.

The State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey joined Governor Otu at the Joint Workers’ Day Celebration.

The State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, and other senior government officials were present at the event as well.
