Edo State Governor Obaseki raises minimum wage to N70,000 for state’s civil servants, effective May 1, 2024

MON APRIL 29 2024-theGBJournal| Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki Monday announced a significant pay raise for civil servants in the state, increasing their Minimum Wage to N70,000, the first state governor in the federation to take the bold step.

The Governor announced the pay raise while commissioning the Labour House, regarded as the most magnificent Labour House in Nigeria, built by the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration, and named after a foremost labour unionist in the country who hails from Edo State, Comrade Sen. Adams Aliu Oshiomhole.

”The minimum wage increase is to take effect from May 1, 2024,” the State Government said in a statement.
