WED, JUN 17 2020-theG&BJournal-The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki Wednesday said he has not jumped ship yet to another party to seek re-election.
‘’My focus now is to control the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, which is ravaging our country and threatening our healthcare system,’’ the Governor twitted.
The State has one of the highest counts of the coronavirus infection in the country, currently 651 in total with 31 fatalities. The number of discharged patients totals 152. 468 patients are active cases.
Obaseki announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) after meeting with the Chief of State to President Muhammadu Buhari Tuesday. His resignation followed his disqualification from contesting the party’s gubernatorial primaries in the State.
Meanwhile, the controversies surrounding the primary screening took another turn today when the APC Acting National Chairman, Victor Giadom cancelled the screening exercise for the Edo State governorship primary which excluded Obaseki.
Giadom took over Tuesday as the Party’s Acting National Chairman ‘’with the backing of the members of the party’s National Working Committee,’’ according to him, and based on a previous court order empowering him to do so.
