MON APRIL 08 2024-theGBJournal| Philip Shaibu, the embattled Deputy Governor of Edo State, has been impeached by the House of Assembly.

The deputy governor was impeached today after the house considered the report by a seven man judicial panel.

And following a head count of the State Assembly members seating, eighteen out of nineteen lawmakers voted in support of the impeachment with one voting against.

Recall that the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shuaibu was served with a notice of impeachment by 21 out of 24 members of the State House of Assembly on Wednesday, March 6th, 2024, and was given 7 days to respond.

The Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku directed the clerk to serve impeachment notice to the Deputy Governor.

The Deputy Governor had been at loggerheads with his boss, the State Governor Godwin Obaseki.
